Response to USP Announcement on Compounding Standards

We wanted to reach out to our customers to let you know how CriticalPoint intends to respond to today’s USP announcement. As you know we have been working diligently to update all of our product lines to assist you in preparing for the anticipated “go live” date of December 1, 2019. Revisions to our products have included:

  • All live training updated to reflect USP 797 (2019) and our best practices
  • Electronic gap tool (www.797gaptool.com) updated in July 2019
  • Sterile Compounding eCurriculum now has 13 updated eLessons (with another 4 due at the end of this month)
  • Sections 1, 2, 3 and 5 of our Standard Operating Procedures updated and released (with Sections 4 and 6 expected at the end of this month)

Based on the USP announcement, CriticalPoint is freezing its curriculum updates until the USP Appointed Panel announces its decision on whether to deny or remand the appeals that have been filed. The diagram below depicts our understanding of and opinion about likely timing and the subsequent actions you can expect from CriticalPoint. We have also prepared a communication about “compendial applicability” which relates more specifically to USP 800 which can be found here.

CriticalPoint is committed to patient safety through the development of training resources that reflect current standards and CriticalPoint best practices. We will work as quickly as possible to update our strategic development plan and continue our curriculum update once USP communicates their intentions regarding USP Chapters 795 and 797. Please visit our website for the latest information on our Curriculum Update Schedule.
